A Designer Handbag Gratitude Journal: Counting Blessings Bag by Bag
By now you’ve probably heard at least snippets of the science coming out about the power of gratitude in our lives. If practicing gratitude can help us sleep better, feel more motivated, and strengthen our relationships , it’s almost like it’s no accident that we celebrate a holiday around the idea at this time every year!
The key word in these gratitude studies, though, is practice. Working gratitude into your life like a practice will take more than just a holiday. Author Andrew Ferebee writes about the science behind forming new habits ; he breaks them down into 3 parts: a reminder, an action, and a reward.
Perhaps we’re biased, but we can’t think of any reminder to count your blessings better than a luxury handbag! Here are seven handbag-inspired prompts to get you started on your gratitude journal. We hope you reap all kinds of positive rewards!
Day 1: Say thank you for the little things
Start small. It’s often the little things we overlook that accumulate into our greatest treasures.
Day 2: Notice abundance throughout your day
We often think of abundance in terms of…heaps of money or something. But what about the abundance of a big cozy blanket? A surprise hour with nothing on the calendar? A plethora of great choices at the supermarket? The fact that you usually have what you need at your fingertips?
Day 3: Make a list of the people who have influenced you
Maybe your fearless grandmother, a kind 2 nd grade teacher, or a trailblazing figure from history you never met.
Day 4: Reflect on the things that gave you strength to get through hard times in the past
What do you draw from when you need to stabilize? Your faith? Your friends? Your own mysterious resilience?
Day 5: What are your sources of inspiration?
What are you drawn to? What do you reflect? What gives you a twinkle in your eye? Stories you heard in childhood? A certain era in art history? Places you’ve visited?
Day 6: Are there people who make your life better in subtle ways?
Maybe there are people you wouldn't necessarily call up for coffee, but whose kindness is woven into the tapestry of your life. Can you always count on a smile from that one bank teller? What about that neighbor who asks how you are and really waits for an answer?
Day 7: What do you love about where you live?
Are there values your community upholds that resonate with you? Is there a place of beauty nearby? Is there a sense of pride or possibility?
We at Keeks are thankful for you, dear readers! Happy Thanksgiving!
