Louis Vuitton has been our best-selling brand by far for over a decade! And for good reason: it's been a fashion powerhouse and innovator since Louis Vuitton founded his workshop in 1854 (171 years ago!!). Whether you’re gifting a loved one or treating yourself, you cannot go wrong with one of these iconic bags.
Louis Vuitton bags are some of the most recognizable in the world because they use their original designs to this day: the Damier canvas checkerboard was born in 1889 and the Monogram canvas was released in 1896. Louis Vuitton revolutionized the luggage industry with his flat-topped trunks, so the Keepall was a natural progression! The Keepall was released in 1930 and a smaller, more compact version debuted in 1932…. The Speedy! These bags were originally made from monogrammed cotton with leather trim, but in the 1950s the company began using PVC to strengthen the bags. Celebs loved the Speedy, and sales surged in the 1960s when a paparazzi snapped a shot of Audrey Hepburn carrying one – the original influencer!!
Bucket bags are very on trend for 2025 due to their style AND functionality, but the Noe has been a Louis Vuitton staple for decades. In 1932, a champagne producer asked LV to create a bag that would carry 5 bottles of Champagne and the Noe was born!! We love all the different variations on this bag – monogram, petite, epi… and then the NeoNoe was released in 2017 as a modern update!
In 1934, Louis Vuitton released the Squire Bag. Not familiar? You may know it by its 1955 rebrand: The Alma! The Alma is one of my favorite styles (especially the BB); I love the reinforced base and the rolled handles. This would be another great bag to snag in multiple prints and sizes!
While many of the classics were born in the early to mid 1900s, the most popular bag of the 21st century debuted in 2007: The Neverfull! This bag is such an icon that I wrote a whole blog post about it HERE. When someone asks what their first designer purchase should be, I almost always recommend the Neverfull.
